You have your Ryder Cup tickets for September 2027. Now comes the harder question: where do you actually stay, and how do you get to Adare Manor every morning when tens of thousands of other people are trying to do the same thing?
This guide covers the official transport plan, the main places to base yourself, and how a private driver fits around it. For the basics of getting to the venue, see our earlier Ryder Cup 2027 transport guide.
The Ryder Cup runs from 13 to 19 September 2027 at Adare Manor. The organisers are clear that there is no parking on site, and they strongly recommend spectators use the official Train and Ride or Park and Ride services.
That shapes everything else. Wherever you stay, your daily journey ends at one of the official transport hubs, not at the gates.
According to the Ryder Cup's own transport page:
The official plan does not mention private drop-offs at the venue, and we will not pretend otherwise. What a private driver does is get you to your Park and Ride site or train station on time every morning, and home again at the end of a long day.
The times below are normal driving times to Adare. During Ryder Cup week, expect roads around Limerick to be far busier and plan your day around the official transport times instead.
The obvious choice for many visitors. Limerick Colbert is the starting point for the official shuttle, so if you stay in the city you can walk or take a short taxi to the station each morning. Hotels, restaurants and evening atmosphere are all on your doorstep.
The closest you can stay, but rooms will be scarce and expensive. If you have one, you are in the middle of it all, in a village known for its thatched cottages, and right beside the action every evening.
Ennis is about 58km from Adare, around 45 minutes in normal traffic, and close to Shannon Airport. It suits visitors who want a quieter base and plan to play some golf in Clare on the days around the matches.
Dromoland Castle is about 47km from Adare, a little under 40 minutes on a normal day. For visitors flying into Shannon it keeps the airport close at both ends of the trip.
Killarney is about 93km away, close to an hour and a half by road on a normal day. It is a long daily commute during Ryder Cup week, but some groups will combine the matches with a golf trip in Kerry and accept the longer journey for a few days.
Demand for drivers and vehicles across the Midwest will be extraordinary in September 2027, and good operators will be fully booked well in advance. If you know you are coming, it is worth securing your transport now rather than next summer.
Dowling Executive Travel is based in the Midwest and can look after a group for the full week, from Shannon Airport arrivals to daily runs to your Park and Ride site or station, in a Mercedes V-Class or a 16-seat Sprinter. See our golf and tourism transport page, or get in touch with your dates and group size for a quote.
